At Copperstone Dental, we utilize dental crowns to restore a tooth to its original size and shape. A dental crown in Meridian, Idaho, can be made using many different materials, including tooth-colored materials such as composite resin and porcelain to restore the beauty and function to your tooth.
Dental crowns are beneficial for many reasons, and those reasons could include:
- Protecting a weak tooth
- Refurbishing a tooth that is worn down
- Restoring a broken tooth
- Supporting a tooth with a large filling
- Holding a dental bridge in place
- Disguising severely discolored teeth
- Covering a dental implant
- Making a cosmetic alteration
This product is one that is placed over a tooth to perform the mentioned functions, and the process of installing the crown involves two trips to our office. Your first visit will begin with Dr. Matthew Tuft preparing the tooth that is receiving the crown. The tooth will be shaved down along the surfaces to allow room for the crown. Once the tooth is the correct shape, your dentist will make impressions of the tooth and will send them to a lab to be made for you. Your second visit will then include the placement of the crown. Your dentist will check and adjust the crown to your bite, and smile and when he finds the perfect fit, it will be permanently cemented into place.
