Zoom Whitening

Is a simple, non-invasive procedure that usually takes between 45 minutes to an hour. The process combines a special lamp, referred to as a Zoom light or Zoom laser, with a hydrogen peroxide-based whitening gel.

  • Patients receive a custom fabricated tray, along with a Day White or Nite White take-home whitening gel syringe and a Relief® ACP oral care gel syringe
  • Philips Zoom! is the No. 1 in-office professional whitening treatment in the U.S.1

Custom Whitening Trays and Whitening Gel:

At-home bleaching involves using custom-made trays worn comfortably anytime during the day. The tray is so thin that you should be able to speak and work while wearing it. To cater to one’s preference, multiple strengths of whitening gel are available for difference time use/ effectiveness. Take home trays typically take 2 to 4 weeks to get to your optimal whitening results.

Though, over-the-counter products are available that offer simple whitening solutions, the dramatic improvement that a professional treatment option offers might not be achieved with the use of the over-the-counter products because of the whitening gel strength.

Helpful Teeth Whitening Information

  • What are Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental procedure aimed at lightening the color of the teeth and removing stains and discoloration. It's one of the most popular and non-invasive dental treatments, providing a quick and effective way to enhance the appearance of your smile.

  • How Teeth Whitening Typically Works

Here's an overview of how teeth whitening typically works:

    1.  Consultation: The process begins with a consultation with a dentist to assess your oral health and determine if you are a candidate for teeth whitening. Your dentist will examine your teeth, discuss your goals and expectations, and recommend the most appropriate whitening option for you.

    2.  Treatment Options: There are several teeth whitening options available, including:

    • In-Office Whitening: Professional, in-office teeth whitening procedures involve the application of a high-concentration bleaching agent to the teeth, which is activated by a special light or laser. This method typically provides the fastest and most dramatic results, with teeth becoming several shades lighter in just one visit to the dentist.
    • Take-Home Whitening Kits: Take-home whitening kits allow you to whiten your teeth at home at your convenience. Your dentist will provide you with custom-fitted trays and a bleaching gel with lower concentrations of whitening agents. You'll wear the trays for a specified amount of time each day, usually for one to two weeks, to achieve gradual whitening results.

    3. Over-the-Counter Whitening Products: There are also over-the-counter whitening products available, such as whitening toothpaste, strips, and gels. While these products can provide some level of whitening, they are generally less effective than professional whitening treatments and may take longer to achieve noticeable results.

    4.  Procedure: The specific procedure for teeth whitening will depend on the chosen method. For in-office whitening, your dentist will apply the whitening agent to your teeth and may use a special light or laser to enhance the whitening process. For take-home kits, you'll fill the custom trays with the bleaching gel and wear them as instructed by your dentist.

    5.  Follow-Up: After completing the whitening treatment, your dentist may recommend periodic touch-ups to maintain the results. This may involve using whitening toothpaste or scheduling occasional touch-up treatments as needed.

It's important to note that while teeth whitening is generally safe and effective when performed by a qualified dental professional, some individuals may experience temporary tooth sensitivity or gum irritation during or after treatment. Additionally, teeth whitening may not be suitable for everyone, particularly those with certain dental conditions or extensive dental restorations.

Overall, teeth whitening can provide a significant improvement in the appearance of your smile, boosting your confidence and self-esteem. If you're considering teeth whitening, consult with your dentist to discuss your options and determine the best approach for achieving your desired results.
